Sherine
A native Lebanese Arabic teacher with 15 years of experience, teaching online from Lebanon to learners around the world.
Sherine’s story
Sherine grew up in Lebanon speaking the Arabic of everyday life, and learned early that it is not the Arabic most textbooks teach.
She started teaching Arabic to foreigners at ALPS, then spent seven years at the Summer Institute, where she taught intensive Levantine and Modern Standard Arabic courses to students from all over the world.
For the last six years she has taught independently and online. Her students are mostly professionals with little time and high expectations: diplomats posted to Beirut, lawyers and doctors working in the region, and expats who want to be part of the conversation around them.

How Sherine teaches
Lessons are conversations from the first day. You learn the words people really use, in the situations you will actually meet: the office, the taxi, the family lunch.
Arabic script is always shown with transliteration and translation, so you are never lost, and you can learn to read at your own pace.
After each lesson you receive the new vocabulary and readings, recorded by Sherine, to listen to again at home.
Who she teaches
Diplomats, lawyers, doctors, NGO staff, journalists and expats, as well as families of Lebanese heritage who want to reconnect with the language.
